The Future-Proof Infrastructure event brought together key stakeholders, investors and experts in infrastructure to discuss challenges infrastructure projects face in achieving sustainability such as financial and political resiliency.
On the 28th March, in a studio not far from the main sustainability event day, the team of Messe Schweiz (MCH) and their partner Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) were about to shed light on how much better our infrastructure can and needs to be by presenting the inaugural Future-Proof Infrastructure event online. The Future-Proof Infrastructure event brought together key stakeholders, investors and experts in infrastructure to discuss challenges infrastructure projects face in achieving sustainability such as financial and political resiliency. The insightful discussions were broadcasted online for free alongside the free to access content hub of the website containing early stage bankable projects, partners of FPI as well as information on the event.
The discussions made evident the immense financing shortfall in infrastructure investment funding across all sectors, as well as the pressing need to tackle climate change through improving sustainable outcomes of infrastructure. However, the panellists were not focused on the cynicism of the challenges of infrastructure and climate change. The panellists are also experts in their own right across a variety of sectors, able to offer solutions to the highlighted infrastructure challenges. Infrastructure funding solutions were touched upon by the FAST-Infra panel, that aims to unlock private investment into valuable infrastructure and, Project Preparation Facilities were discussed in how they bring to light important infrastructure projects in countries with limited access to financial and technical resources.
There are solutions, and infrastructure can be worth more than the sum of its parts when perceptions and preconceived notions of how infrastructure should be provided is questioned and morphed into more dynamic solutions.
Building on this momentum, the Future-Proof Infrastructure event can provide a valuable match making platform for important stakeholders. The virtual event has proven that there is appetite amongst investors, projects and experts to connect and provide solutions which is why Future-Proof Infrastructure 2024 has the vision to upgrade to a fully in person congress.
