Media release SmartSuisse 2023

Sustainability has many facets – as the Sustainability Days will reveal

The first edition of the Sustainability Days, being held on 28 and 29 March 2023 in the Congress Center Basel, will be devoted to all things sustainability. The congress series will be opened by Marco Gadola, Member of the Board of Directors of the MCH Group, together with Marco Lambertini.

Over the course of the two-day event, some 150 speakers, including Thomas Rau, Petteri Taalas, Pekka Timonen and Bertrand Piccard, will introduce and discuss their visions, case studies and solutions in the areas of smart city, corporate sustainability, environmental technology and infrastructure with the trade visitors.

In addition to a compact exhibition with some 70 leading suppliers presenting innovations, products, services and solutions from the areas of smart city, sustainability and environmental technology, the individual congress series at the Sustainability Days will feature impressive presentations and lectures from high profile Swiss and international experts. More than 150 speakers will share exclusive insights into current developments and research, trends and best practice examples on 15 main topics. Visitors can expect a mix of concrete solutions and strategies.

For example, the city mayors of Basel, Lucerne, Solothurn, Uster and Winterthur will discuss whether the goal of a climate-neutral city is actually achievable or just an attempt to ignore climate change. Thomas Rau, Petteri Taalas and Pekka Timonen will explore key topics such as urban development, climate change and the circular economy in their keynotes, while the Q&A with Swiss explorer and psychiatrist Bertrand Piccard will give trade visitors the opportunity to ask questions about his groundbreaking work as a pioneer of solar aircraft technology and his vision for a sustainable future. At the Health Podium, experts from the field will address the question “Health data, the new gold? Data security vs. data use”. A detailed overview of the comprehensive programme of individual congress series can be found on the website, including registration options.

With its compact exhibition and a cross-platform Networking Dinner Party on the evening of the first day, the Sustainability Days enable both a cross-industry and topic-relevant approach, which is the perfect foundation not only to transfer and exchange knowledge, but also to network.
