BW_i presented at SmartSuisse 2023 - together with the city of Constance - the expertise in the field of smart and sustainable urban solutions in THE LÄND.
Many municipalities in Baden-Württemberg are already pioneers with their smart city concepts. In the Smart City Index 2022 of the digital industry association Bitkom, five municipalities from THE LÄND - Stuttgart, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Ulm - are in the TOP 20 ranking of major German cities.
But even outside the Swabian and Baden metropolises, solutions in the areas of smart mobility, circular economy & climate protection or governance are being vigorously and innovatively advanced. This year's BW_i partner city Constance will also be among them, presenting its "Smart Green City Constance" programme.
But it is not only the public sector that is taking initiative and responsibility to advance the topic of smart cities in the "Ländle". On the way to sustainable and future-oriented urban development, Baden-Württemberg companies offer a variety of answers to the question of how to meet the current challenges in terms of environmental pollution, housing shortage or the intelligent and at the same time secure use of data. In Europe's No. 1 innovation region, our start-ups and SMEs provide solutions, e.g. in the development of sustainable materials for resource-efficient construction or, as a mobility state, custom-fit offers for urban transportation.
The overall picture of future-oriented municipalities and innovation-oriented companies is complemented by close cooperation with research institutions and cluster initiatives and networks. This makes THE LÄND the perfect location for cooperation and investment in the field of smart cities.
